¿Cómo sientes que tu cultura y herencia han influenciado tu carrera?
Me ha influenciado grandemente. Sin duda es un rasgo. As an artist and human being, I grew up in Puerto Rico where we heard all types of diverse, multicultural tunes. En respecto a la cultura tenemos excelente componente y artistas muy grandes, pero en todo aspecto de la palabra me enorgullece ser Puertoriqueno.
¿Cómo crees que el género se ha transformado a través de los años? ¿Qué visualizas para los años que vienen?
De verdad que se ha transformado si, pero como todo en la vida es evolución, crecimiento, hacia arriba, es la única manera de sobrevivir. The industry is established, so much so, it's gone global, but this has been a result of evolving and making space for growth and innovation.
Ya tengo hambre de hacer shows, el acercamiento de shows me emociona, aun mas cuando los fans me reciben, la dinámica del dia a dia, de nuestro trabajo. Me hace falta. Another thing I want to do is manifest living and enjoying all moments in life.
What could you do differently if you could go back?
No considero que haya algo específico, pero básicamente todo lo que he hecho lo he hecho juiciosamente. Creo 100% que donde estoy es la suma y resta de lo que debo estar viviendo. If I am able to go back in life for a moment, I would value more those opportunities of spending time with the people I love without concern based on who I am. My life has changed, I am now influential, ya no paso por desapercibido, pero si estoy feliz y agradecido con la vida.
¿Cuál es una colaboración que sería como un sueño para ti?
This week he is hosting a virtual concert, and it would be an honor and a dream for me to record with Marc Anthony. He is both a legend and an icon in our industry.
¿Qué te inspira y te motiva to show up todos los días?
Ahora mismo tengo un bebe, eso pues obviamente es un motivo bien grande. Por igual, le agradezco mil a muchos miembros de mi familia. Gente que me ha visto crecer, quiero compartir cada logro con ellos. Poder ofrecerle una mejor calidad de vida a mi núcleo cercano está dentro de las razones primordiales de inspiración. And, just when I might have a weak moment, I look up and honor God, all he sacrificed allows me to fight the battles needed to move forward and continue creating impact.
When did you realize that this was your passion?
Desde niño siempre cantaba en actividades, mi abuela que está en cielo, ella me aportó y me motivo. There were times back when I was young where I didnt want to sing, but once I started growing I had my friends amping me up and supporting my career as an artist. Pues después le di duro y creí full en mi.
Cómo te sentiste haciendo ese rol de Nicky Jam: El Ganador
Fue algo gigante para mi. Estamos hablando de una leyenda en la música, Nicky Jam. It was an honor to play the role, adding my personality which in turn one day will allow me to become a legend myself.
¿Cómo te podemos apoyar?
Yo considero que me pueden seguir en las redes. I love my fans to love me for who I am. For the music I am producing, the movies I am working on, and also respecting my space. Quedan pendientes a las próximas cosas que vamos hacer.
Darkiel started his journey at only 19 years old, with more than 2 dozen videos as an artist including hits such as “Vestida Preciosa”, “Donde Estaras” featuring Farruko, “Nadie Muere de Amor” junto a Amenazzy y su más reciente éxito “Me Siento Bien” al lado del Jamaiquino Shaggy. His videos add up to more than 342 million views on YouTube with an Instagram following of 3.6 million. The reason I state all the facts is because we are born with a calling. We each have a destiny written from the day we enter this world. You are an empty canvas, you are forever evolving and never incomplete. You choose to show the world what you love, with love. The universe together with your faith in God will pave the way for you to become a legend, Darkiel. ¡Estamos contigo amor!
