All of these components have to work together before we can be the best possible version of ourselves.

Q: Where are you from?
A: I am a native New Yorker and live in a beautiful residential community on the outskirts on NYC, but only a quick train ride away. The city has become a second home to my two teenage daughters and myself as we love to walk and explore on sunny days.

Q: Where do you currently reside?
A: I still live in NY, but travel all over the world and consider Miami my home away from home. In two years when my youngest daughter graduates High School I plan to move there as many of my clients for agency JD Media are located there and I can’t resist the warm weather and palm trees.

Q: What are your ties to Miami?

A: When my children were younger, my family and I were “snow birds” andspent our winters in Florida. It was such a special time for us and I remember thinking once they were grown and in college I would build a life for myself down in the sunshine state. It’s difficult to believe that time has come, but here it is. Around two years ago when I embarked on my social media journey, building my personal brand (www.janinedelaney.com) and my digital marketing firm (www.jdmedia.org) I started traveling to Miami quite frequently for content shoots and clients. As a result I have met some amazing people there and can’t wait until I can permanently call it my home. Miami has so many amazing memories for me!

Q: What was your career path?

A: I have always been very athletic and as a young adult danced professional ballet, until which time I had to make a decision to pursue my dance career or my doctorate in Psychology. I chose the latter because I felt it would be a more sustainable career path, but I never gave up my love of dance or sports. As I continued to work as a Psychologist I pursued many athletic endeavors including playing on a soccer team for the first time ever and competing in bodybuilding competitions. I enjoy challenges and the thrill of trying new things. Then around two years ago, I decided to enter into the world of social media to help women of all ages see that fit is about feeling great and not just what you look like. At the age of 50 I now have over 3 Million fans across my social media platforms. It’s an amazing feeling to inspire people all around the world on a daily basis. It is what keep me motivated and young myself!

Q: Who influenced you the most?
A: This is a difficult question because I have two people in my life who have been game changers in the way I think and live my life. The first was my father who passed away when I was 25. He was chronically ill and never let it set him back. He taught me that one’s body is to be valued and treated with respect, because without health there is not much else. He was my hero and I strive to live by the lessons he taught me. My second largest influence was my business partner Michael Rys, who I met through my life in social media. Although he is much younger than me, he encouraged me not the be held back by the limitations in my mind. Often when we get older we lose the mindset younger people have that anything is possible. We see the world through jaded glasses that can hold us back from following our dreams.  It was through his influence I started my digital marketing agency to help brands learn from the experiences I have had growing my own social presence. I wake up each day feeling excited to learn more and help others. The gift of energy and open-mindedness is something he gave to me and something I will forever be appreciative of.

Q: Can you describe that "moment" (experience, emotion,) when you knew that you were pursuing your passion?
A: This is an easy one. I was participating in my first of many events for my long-time sponsorship partner Quest Nutrition, when a woman close to my age ran up to me and gave me a super big bear hug. She told me she has been following for a year and had just lost over 100 lbs. naturally. She told me I was her inspiration as a career woman and mom. If I could stay motivated so could she. I still get tears in my eyes when I think about that moment. That is when I knew I found my place in this world.

Q: What’s a typical day like for you?
A: My typical day is anything but typical and there is never a set routine or schedule, although I still make a calendar and plan everything. As the mother of two teenage daughters, a Psychologist, Wellness Influencer and business owner, I am always juggling many balls. I love the excitement and challenge of it all. There are a few consistent things in my day, however which include making time for the ones I love and taking care of my body. I do travel frequently and try to relax as much as possible in nature during my trips. I like to work hard and play hard too!

Q: Did you encounter any challenges on your journey?
A: My biggest challenge that has been and continues to be is time. There are never enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do. I joke and say “what is the word bored? I’ve never heard of that word”. I like to be busy, but sometimes busy can get too busy. As I have aged I have learned to take more time for myself and be more flexible.

Q: What have you liked most about your profession?

A: The favorite part of my combined career experiences has always been being exposed to different people and different cultures. I have consulted for Fortune 500 companies and start-ups, regardless each company has their own story to tell, traditions and objectives. The more I learn, the more satisfied I am.

Q: What are some healthy tips you can share with us today?

A: My favorite tip is everything in moderation. Make sure you try and stick to a healthy routine, but don’t be so hard on yourself that you give up and revert back to bad habits. Consistency is the key to making it work. Some more healthy tips include always having healthy food at home to avoid the urge to binge eat on junk when you are hungry, and also building your workout into you daily calendar to make sure you set time aside.

Q: What are some of your “go-to” healthy snacks?

A: I absolutely love anything from Quest Nutrition, their protein bars, chips and shakes. They are tasty, have excellent macros and portable. Another favorite of mine are almonds and a banana and I always have a post-workout home-made smoothie will almond butter (my fave!).

Q: On your cheat day, you have to have…

A: Pizza and a glass of red wine..doesn’t everyone?

Q: How did you get your nickname, “the jumping queen?”

A: One of my followers gave it to me! As you can see I love jumping rope for so many reasons including fat and calorie burn and muscle development. It’s fun and can be done anywhere. I was nicknamed #jumprope queen because of my quirky dance style and tricks.

Q: Do you feel like you are living your best life?

A: Yes I do.  I have always lived life looking to grow and learn. I never live with regrets because each decision we make always feels like the best decision at the time and it’s impossible to predict the future. I am optimistic about my life going forward and what the future has in store.

Q: If you could go back, would you do anything differently?

A: As a young professional I wish I had expressed my creativity more. Working as a woman in the corporate world I thought it was best to not be too outspoken and voice controversial opinions. Now I know it’s important to think outside the box and let your ideas be known.

Q: Any projects in the works?

A: Right now I am most excited about some new clients I have acquired through my digital marketing firm. I have seen these brands grow and increase sales in just a matter of months. It is such a rewarding feeling to know you can give others the opportunity to grow their businesses and also work with an amazing team of people all at the same time. I love being around other smart and creative people who help me thrive. I look forward to building more connections between the brands I work with and hosting some fun events in the very near future.

Q: What is something most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: Oh boy!  Here goes.  Most people would never know I was always chosen last in grade school for team sports. I was very timid and afraid to get hurt as a dancer. Now I climb rocks and zipline 40,000 feet in the air, so life has definitely taught me to take calculated risks.

Q: What’s a quote you live by?

A: Where there is a will there is a way! You got this
