Jack of All Trades:
Steven Rodriguez

Jack of All Trades
Steven Rodriguez, aka “I Am Daze”
is an artist with numerous talents, that has a strong passion, desire and
an eye for art...

Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born in Jackson Memorial Hospital on November 19, 1983 and raised in Miami-Dade representing Miami/ Hialeah 305 since I can remember.

Q: How long have you been in Miami?

A: Been living here roaming these streets for 36yrs

Q: What was your career path?
A: My life has taken me through many paths, being that I have always been a creative individual. But the career paths that were presented and given to me consist of Barbering/Tonsirial Hair-artistry, Modeling and Acting ( due to the distinct appearance I obtain), then my curiosity for capturing images took me to the path of engaging into many forms photography,  and during all that time I also spent my learning more on the art of Tattooing plus there is so much more crafts that I am into, so I can honestly say that my actual career path has always been  A CREATOR ( Artist ). with all my talents I can pick and choose and perfect my crafts. and for that I am grateful.

Q: Who influenced you the most?
A: I think there have been a variety of influences in my life from artists, music, musicians, directors, movies, models, and most of all my supporters have been my main influences because they give me the motivation and drive to continue creating all the wonderful ART inspired.

Q: What makes you a "jack of all trades"?

A: What makes me a "Jack of all Trades" or " Creator " to me basically is the fact of obtaining all these skills/talents and the ability to "create something out of nothing" dabbing in all of them rather than focusing on just one skill. I think I can say I am Very versatile , Blessed with all these traits in order to provide for my family and myself in every and any way possible. That is what I feel makes me a " Jack of all Trades".

Q: What motivates you?

A: My main motivation has to be my mother and my father, if it weren't for their upbringing and the fact that they gave me life and brought me into this world and was able to inherit certain gifts from each of them has to be my greatest motivation. I am a physical representation of their creation in this realm and I am destined to leave my mark in this realm and the next and eventually pass it on to my young offspring.  they are the reason why I do what it is that I do in my life with of course to always break the stigma on appearances for people not to judge me or others. Also like I said earlier I'm constantly motivated by my supporters and those curious to know and express themselves openly without doing harm to others respectfully. But I am constantly being motivated by family and friends , moments, experiences, places, culture, and so much more, just life in general, An open book ready to be read and always room to be written in.

Q: Can you describe that "moment" (experience, emotion,) when you knew that you were pursuing your passion?
A: I think those moments come in so many waves of experience and emotions, and are constantly appearing. I remember the feeling when I pursued my career path on obtaining my cosmetology license , I was already a barber in my hood in Hialeah from the age of somewhat 14-15 or so,  I did not have an official license and after graduating high school from Barbara Goleman  I  attended Miami Dade community college and I was not really interested in the school work electives or curriculums that I was assigned, so I dropped out of the college and enrolled into Beauty School of Americas so to not risk my business income working illegally nor I get fined. So I completed my course and graduated / pass the exams and received my Cosmetology License.  As for my modeling, photography and tattooing, all those were also included in that journey of mine just preparing me for the right time to tackle each endeavor.  I can honestly say that I am excited to see and can't wait for what more is about to come.

Q: Any projects in the works?

A: There are a few projects that I have in the works and collaborations with other talented individuals such as myself at the moment, can't really say much but all I can say is to make sure to keep an eye out for future work with @highmerica and @officialvanyvicious plus more

Q: What is something most people wouldn't know about you?

A: Well it depends since many people would rather like to assume and judge me by my appearance, many would not know where to start, but I believe many may not know that I am definitely an approachable individual with well spoken manners and much respect for those who give me there mutual respect as it should be,  but I can say that I can definitely also be an element of surprise.

Well also another thing I think many would not know about me, is that back in high school I was one of the very few that received a 6.0 back on the Florida Writes exam, lol hahah, I received the news in the school office while I was being arrested for Graffiti. I think that is one of my many favorite memorable stories/memories. I'm sure there are a lot more things many don't know much about me but that also is why I encourage people to ask me questions so that I am able to answer to the best of my ability to clear their minds and put their curiosity at ease.

Q: What’s a quote you live by?

A: There are so many quotes I live by, a few that stick and resonate with me:

"Motivation is the desire to Succeed"
"Actions speak louder than Words"
"Truth Hurts"
"Practice what you Preach"
